Our CEO's Profile
Dr. Amakove Wala, a dynamic and visionary leader in the healthcare industry and the care economy currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Nyarai Homecare Services in Nairobi, Kenya, a position she has held since April 2016. In this role, she has spearheaded the establishment and growth of a pioneering homecare services company. Her strategic vision and entrepreneurial acumen have not only led to the company’s success but have also redefined the standards for domestic work, economic inclusion, and human rights within the industry.
Being a mother to a singleton and triplets, two years apart, Dr Wala developed a deep appreciation for the importance of domestic work and the individuals dedicated to providing these essential services and subsequently developed a passion for advocating for the rights and well-being of domestic workers. Her experiences working with domestic workers and witnessing the challenges they faced ignited a desire to create systemic change.
In 2023, Dr Wala founded the House Managers Agencies Association with the vision of bringing together agencies committed to ethical practices and worker empowerment. Recognizing the vital role of placement agencies in connecting domestic workers with employers, Dr Wala aimed to create an association that prioritized professionalism, fairness, and the well-being of both workers and employers. Under her leadership, the Association has become a leading voice in the domestic worker sector. They have initiated training programs, advocacy campaigns, and community outreach efforts to reshape societal perceptions and elevate the standards within the industry. Her dedication to transparency and inclusivity fostered a collaborative spirit among member agencies.
